I went to Amsterdam last week for the concert of PJ Harvey and John Paris, and decided to visit the yarn shop there: De Afstap. They have all the Rowan yarns. It was so great to see all the yarns in real life, and to be able to touch them. They were all great, but I really liked the Felted Tweed, the Scottish Tweed, the Organic Cotton and the Kidsilk Haze. I bought 10 balls of Scottish Tweed in the colour Heath, which is brown with blue and yellow flecks. I bought it to make Joy from Rowan Vintage Knits. But I saw on Ravelry that people needed a lot more yarn than stated in the patttern. So maybe I will use it for something else.
After the concert, which was really great, we went to Den Haag to visit my sister. And I went to Woool there. It was a really lovely shop, with very friendly people working there. They have yarns you don’t see often in The Netherlands, like Debbie Bliss and Lang. I especially liked the Debbie Bliss yarns, and bought 6 balls of Cashmerino DK to make a vest. That yarn feels so wonderfully soft, I just had to touch it from time to time travelling home. I chose a wonderful petrol blue. I also liked the Pure Cotton from Debbie Bliss, also very soft, I want to try that next time. I certainly will visit the shop again.
I decided to reknit Emily before starting something new. I knitted a lot last weekend and already finished the back. I am working on slighty smaller needles now, and it looks a lot better. I really love to knit with the soft Kid Classic after that stiff cotton.
